Kawamura Genki

Kawamura Genki was born in 1979. He is a novelist. If Cats Disappeared from the World is an international success. He is a producer on films such as Your Name, Children of Time and Suzume by Shinkai Makoto, as well as Wolf Children, Mirai, My Little Sister and Belle by Hosoda Mamoru. His first short film Duality was selected in the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. In 2022, he created with Kore-eda Hirokazu Makanai, an original Netflix series. In 2022, he won the Silver Conch for best director at the San Sebastián Film Festival and became the first Japanese to receive this award.
