Mahdi Fleifel  

Mahdi Fleifel was born in 1979 in Dubai. He grew up in the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp in Lebanon, then in the suburbs of Elsinore, Denmark. He graduated from the National Film and Television School in London. In 2012, he directed A World Not Ours, his first feature-length documentary, which was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival and won awards at numerous festivals. He has directed several short films: A Man Returned (Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2016), A Drowning Man (selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 2017), I Signed the Petition, and 3 Logical Exits (Rotterdam International Film Festival). To a Land Unknown is his first feature-length fiction film.
