Ito Shiori

Shiori is a journalist, writer and documentary filmmaker. She co-founded Hanashi Films, a production company based in Tokyo and London, which has collaborated with NHK, the BBC and Al Jazeera. In 2017, she wrote Black Box, in which she recounts her rape and her fight to bring her attacker to justice. Denouncing sexual violence in Japan, the book, awarded by the Free Press Association of Japan, has been translated into several languages ​​and published in France. A symbol of the #MeToo movement in Japan, Ito Shiori was elected by the Times as one of the 100 most influential people of 2020. In 2023, she adapted her book into a documentary and directed Black Box.

Yeo Siew Hua
