Mochizuki Tomomi was born in 1958 in Hokkaido, Japan. He is a renowned Japanese director, screenwriter, and storyboard artist in the field of animation. He began his career in the 1980s at the Ajia-do studio and made a name for himself directing series such as Hikari no Densetsu and Ranma ½. In 1993, he directed Ocean Saves with Studio Ghibli. He is appreciated for his sensitive, realistic, and introspective style, often focused on human emotions. He remains a discreet but influential figure in Japanese animation.
