Gu Xiaogang  

Gu Xiaogang was born in Fuyang, southern China. During his university studies in fashion design and marketing, he developed an interest in documentary filmmaking. His first feature film, Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, was filmed over four seasons during two years. It was selected as the closing film of Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. This film is the first in a trilogy, the second installment of which is Dwelling by the West Lake in 2023, and the upcoming film The First Taste of Loneliness.
