Kuno Yoko was born in 1990 in Ibaraki Prefecture. She studied at Tama University of Fine Arts. Airy, her graduation film, won several awards. She also writes manga. She is considered today as one of the essential figures of contemporary animation.

Yamashita Nobuhiro was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1976. He studied film at Osaka University of the Arts. Since his first film Hazy Life in 1999, he has made 21 films, including A Gentle Breeze in the Village and The Matsugane Potshot Affair, which won the Hochi Film Award in 2007.
