Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami

Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami studied directing and animation at the University of Tehran. Her research on animated documentary films resulted in the publication of the book Animated Documentary, a New Way to Express. She directed six documentaries including Going Up the Stairs in 2011 and received more than twenty awards. The documentary Sonita won awards at several festivals and received, among others, the Best Documentary Award and the Documentary Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. She currently lives in the United States.
