The Maw Naing

The Maw Naing was born in Myin Gyan, Burma in 1971. He graduated in Burmese literature and technology. He studied film at the Yangon Film School and then at FAMU, a film school in Prague. He is a poet, artist and director. He has directed several films: in 2008, Again and Again, then in 2006, Are not as, in 2009 Evening, in 2009 too, Nargis: When Time Stopped Breathing, awarded at several festivals, in 2013, Between the pages and in 2014, The Monk, his first feature-length fiction film which won the NETPAC prize at FICA in 2015. He is working on his third fiction film Aung Who Wanted to be Aung and Then Wanted to be a Nun.
