Pitch
In the 1980s, Nguyen Duc, widely known in Japan as “Viet and Duc” in Vietnam, is now married and the father of a family living in Ho Chi Minh-Ville. Born a conjoined twin as a result of Agent Orange used during the Vietnam war, the documentary transmits Duc’s resilience as he deals with the after-effects and chronic health problems, while at the same time fulfilling his mission as Ambassador for Peace. The father of twins, Fuji and Sakura, who are 14 years old, he is the pillar of the family and leads a full life getting around on one leg with his three-wheeler motorbike specially designed for him. He loves his children above all else and is a proud father for whom education is primordial. However, he faces each new day carrying the scars of Agent Orange. Duc, who has been interviewed by numerous media outlets in the past, approached the filming of this documentary with the determination to tell his story as honestly as he could. What message does this film hold for the future, recounting as it does Duc’s past and present ?
