A Move

by Elahe Esmaili - Iran

Pitch

Elahe goes back to her home town of Mashhad in Iran to help her parents move from a flat where they had been living for 40 years into another one. Inspired by the Women-Life-Freedom movement, she also hopes for deeper change, beyond just a simple move.

“It was important for me to stand up to anyone who stands in the way of my search for freedom. I wanted to show my resistance and keep fighting for freedom, whatever happened. I hope that this will inspire women all over the world not to give up under pressure if they feel their rights have been violated, even if that is on the part of their close family. I made this film to show how close I feel to these brave, Iranian women, with the aim of proving once again that the freedom of women is not something to be feared. I hope that everyone all over the world will come to a better understanding of how important peaceful coexistence is without imposing our beliefs on each other. Especially nowadays, with the situation as it is in the world - and especially with what is happening at the present time in the Middle East and between different religions around the world.” Elahe Esmaili
