In 2012 during summer, Chang-ho comes for the first time to France to meet his daughter Sophie, whom he abandoned at the age of six in a Seoul orphanage. After a first meeting in 2009 in South Korea, the father and daughter meet for the second time at Sophie’s house, in a village in southwest of France; they get down to rebuilding a strong and lasting relationship. In The Journey of Sophie, the previous film, Sophie found her biological family in Korea, after being separated for more than twenty years.

“I wanted to have the possibility to explore the eventful life of Changho… and question the concrete possibility to rebuild a lasting relationship with his daughter, despite the distance and the gap which were still separating them. I therefore chose the Korean side of the story, and followed Chang-ho during his journey and his search for his child.” Gabriel Laurent
