Yuan and Xiang are two young children studying at an acrobatic school in Heibei Provinces. The film dwells on the double pressure these children in the bloom of youth are subjected to: the pressure of their school wanting them to become the best thanks to an iron discipline, and the pressure of their parents having high hopes on them. These parents think that, thanks to all these sacrifices (the children stay far away from their homes and have to yield to physical and mental demands), their children will get a better life than theirs when they are adults. These children growing away from their parents are subjected to external pressures at a very young age and have lost the innocence of their youth.
With this film, the director wants to show the aspirations of the middleclass in China.
