Passing Dreams

by Rashid Masharawi - Palestine

Pitch

Sami, 12, has lost his carrier pigeon. Convinced that his bird has returned to where it was born, the young boy persuades his uncle and cousin to accompany him on a journey that takes them from a refugee camp in the West Bank to Bethlehem, the Old City of Jerusalem, and Haifa. Along the way, they meet other Palestinians who share their experiences, perceptions, and aspirations. Through this journey, the absurdity and ingenuity of their daily lives shine through. "For me, Sami's journey with his uncle and cousin in search of a missing pigeon is much more than a simple quest. It is an exploration of human connections, places, and memories. It is also an attempt to preserve dreams, despite the harshness of reality and the absurdity of everyday life. This journey becomes a discovery of the beauty that resides in every human being and in every place, a way of inventing hope and forging inner protections against the constant disillusionment that comes from the unknown and the irrational."
