In Hong Kong in 1966, in his small hotel room, Chow Mo Wan, a writer struggling with his lack of inspiration, tries to finish a science fiction book set in 2046. While writing, Chow remembers the women who have passed through his solitary existence. Passionate, intellectual or romantic, each has left an indelible mark in his memory and fuelled his imagination. One of them comes back regularly to haunt his mind : Su Li Zhen, no doubt the only one he ever loved. She was in the next room to his – room number 2046 ...
