Park Kwang-su was born in 1955 ain Sokcho, Gangwo Province. He was a student of Fine Arts at Seoul National University. He directed several Super 8 mm movies, before settling down in France to study cinema. Back in South Korea, he works as an assistant to Lee Chang-ho, before directing his debut feature Chilsu and Mansu in 1988.
