When Morning Comes, I Feel Empty - ASA GA KURU TO MUNASHIKU NARU

by Ishibashi Yûho - Japan

Pitch

At 24, Nozomi has traded her business suit as a sales rep for the simple overalls of a local supermarket. Between the reassuring monotony of everyday life and the camaraderie of her colleagues, she feels that she has found a fragile state of balance. But the sudden appearance of an old school friend in the supermarket upsets her routine and makes her face up to her life choices. “How can we find meaning in our life ? Faced with all sorts of social, environmental and identity crises, many of today's young people are no longer satisfied with simply following the well-trodden paths of their elders. In search of harmony in an uncertain, fragmented world, even more so since the pandemic, many are questioning norms to better restore coherence—and value—to their existence. Between hope and disillusion, this quest becomes a powerful force of personal and collective transformation, a societal tidal wave that shakes everything up.” Ishibashi Yuho.
“With infinite delicacy, Ishibashi Yuho paints a subtle portrait of a young generation searching for meaning, featuring the actress Karata Erika who was revealed in ‘Asako I & II’ by Hamaguchi Ryusuke and starring in ‘Love on Trial’ by Fukada Koji.” Hanabi
