Gaza to Oscar

In Gaza, filmmakers risk their lives to preserve their people's stories, transforming a harsh reality into Oscar-winning films. Alaa is one of these filmmakers imprisoned in Gaza whose work has nonetheless crossed borders and touched the world. Despite the blockade, they pursue their dual quest every day: for shelter, a little bread and water, and for a film that can give voice to their stories. Building on the knowledge and experience gained during the production of From Ground Zero, initiated by Rashid Masharawi, From Ground Zero + is a project that presents a diverse range of portraits of life in Gaza. Each work explores a particular facet of the human experience in the face of armed conflict, during a difficult period of reconstruction and collective mourning. This perspective offers a new vision of resilience and hope in a situation that remains uncertain.
