Mount Everest has become a graveyard littered with the bodies of dead climbers. To appease the angry mountain gods, the renowned Nepalese mountaineer and national hero, Mingma Tsiri Sherpa, risks everything to return to Everest one last time and attempt to recover a body. “I hope our film will shed light on the complex relationship the Sherpa people have with Mount Everest for audiences worldwide… During our journey, we stopped at monasteries where Mingma prayed and passed by schools where he wished he could have studied longer.” We followed his journey from porter to family man, culminating in the legacy he leaves as an accomplished mountaineer, having guided over 75 clients to the summit of Everest, helping them realize their dreams… Mingma’s dream has always been to honor this sacred land that provided for him and his family. He now wishes to give respect and dignity to the mountain he loves—a mountain the Sherpas call Chomolungma.
