Bishnu, 32, returns to her ancestral Himalayan village after leaving her city job, only to be confronted with mounting family pressures and rigid social expectations. There, she reunites with her grandmother, who has been hoping for her son's return from Dubai; her mother, eager for Bishnu to settle down and get married; and her pregnant sister, Junu, who has come seeking refuge from tensions within her in-laws. As old conflicts resurface with Junu's arrival and a tentative relationship develops with Gyan, a "respectable" local architect, Bishnu finds herself torn between tradition and her desire for independence. Navigating this fragile tangle of expectations and resistance, she must choose between conforming and forging her own path. "Shape of Momo explores how women internalize—and sometimes challenge—the systems that confine them." Through a multigenerational female family, the film explores identity, freedom, and tradition, highlighting the tension between women's aspirations and societal expectations. My goal is to portray these women as complex individuals, not simply as victims of patriarchy. – Tribeny Rai
