24 City - ER SHI SI CHENG JI

In Chengdu, the 420 factory and its model workers' housing estate are disappearing to make way for a luxury apartment complex called "24 City". Three generations, eight characters : former workers, Chinese nouveau riche, between the older generation's nostalgia for past socialism and young people's desire for success, their story is the history of China.

"Creating simultaneously documentary and fiction was, for me, the best way to confront the history of China from 1958 to 2008. The story is set in a state-owned military factory which has existed for 60 years. This place has seen all the political movements of communist China.
