GENERATION(S)
In Saudi Arabia, in the 90s, a new school teacher, Nader, arrived in an isolated village. There he met Norah, a young woman searching for freedom. Their secret relationship, with its source in art and beauty, was to free creative forces which gave power to these two kindred souls... in spite of the danger.
“This film takes place in my country, Saudi Arabia, at a time, in the 90s, when all forms of art were prohibited. Today things have changed, but this period lasted for 35 years. Many artists and musicians had to interrupt their careers because of the pressure they were under... There was no cinema in Saudi Arabia and people kept on telling me that it was not worth trying to make films in this country. When I was looking for ideas for my first film, I discovered the stories of certain artists who had been censored in the 80s and 90s. Their stories found an echo in me, and I identified with them.” Tawfik Alzaidi
