Pitch

When he was 12 years old, Zain decided to sue his parents for bringing him into the world when they were not capable of raising him properly, even just by giving him love. The struggle of this abused child, whose parents were not equal to their responsibilities, resonates to a certain extent like the cry of all those neglected by our system, a universal complaint seen through innocent eyes... Zain has no identity papers, so he does not exist in legal terms. His case is typical of the problem which is brought to light through the film, that of the legitimacy of a human being.
“As I met these mothers who neglect the rights of their children, I saw myself making judgement on them. Then, as I listened to them describing the hell on earth in which they lived, the blunders and the ignorance which made them sometimes act with great injustice towards the flesh of their flesh, I received a slap in the face. The idea is that we ask ourselves, as I myself experienced, “ How did I let myself hate or judge these people when I know nothing about the way they live or what their daily life is like?” Nadine Labaki
