Love in a Fallen City - QING CHENG ZHI LIAN

In 1941, Bai Liusu, who has been divorced for several years, lives in the stifling atmosphere of her family home. The only way to escape would be to get married again. Acting as a matchmaker for one of the daughters of the Bai family, Mrs Xu undertakes to "marry Liusu off" at the same time. Mrs Xu offers her a way out : as she is going to Hong Kong to meet up with her husband who is doing business with Fan Liuyuan, she invites Liusu to go with her under the pretence of looking after the children during the trip. And so starts, in the refined social setting of the British colony, a game of cat and mouse between Bai Liusu and Fan Liuyuan.
After having starred with Ann Hui in ‘The Story of Woo Viet’, Cora Miao and Chow Yun-fat are the actors in this beautiful adaptation of a novella by Eileen Chang.
