Pitch
Wai Bhone, a struggling and little-known filmmaker, sets out to create his first feature film for the big screen. His relentless effort is met with criticism from censorship authorities, and he faces intense pressure due to a severe lack of funding. With a poorly prepared production, he hires Zaw, his alcoholic brother-in-law, as an extra for a fight scene. Under the influence of alcohol, Zaw accidentally knocks over the camera-an expensive piece of equipment. Threatened with losing his film, and consequently his career, Wai, in desperation, devises a plan to rob a bank, blurring the lines between the harsh realities of his life and the fiction he is creating.
"2020 marks the centenary of the Burmese film industry. The glory days are long gone. Dictatorship, corruption, and strict censorship policies have thrown everything into disarray. We ended up reflecting on ourselves through eccentric, fictional characters who embark on the chaotic journey of filmmaking. This satirical film addresses issues of censorship and the industry’s obsession with money." Maung Sun.
