Soudade Kaadan was born in 1979. She studied theatre criticism at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, then directing at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2018, she directed her first feature film, The Day I Lost My Shadow, which won the Lion of the Future at the Venice Film Festival. The following year, her short film Aziza won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Nezouh is her second feature film. The film won the Orizzonti Audience Award at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
