Joël Frages

Joël Farges, born in 1948 in Angers, is a director, producer, and screenwriter. After studying at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, he first worked as an editor, participating in the founding of the magazine Ça/Cinéma in 1973, marking the beginning of a career devoted to writing and reflection on cinema. He directed several historical short films on the archaeology of cinema, as well as feature films and documentaries. He founded the production company Artcam International in 1992 and then joined Kolam Productions. He produced dozens of films in Eastern Europe, Asia, and India, and taught cinema at Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle University and then at La Fémis.
