The Hamons live on an unproductive island where they have to remove rocks to get earth and grow corn, working relentlessly. Parents and children, everyone participates with very basic tools, and there is only one crop a year. Yet, despite these extreme conditions of life, generation after generation, they remain attached to their island and to their traditions, and the day of market is a special occasion nobody would miss.
