Tae-suk drives along the streets on his bike. He leaves leaflets on the handles of house doors. When he comes back a few days later, he can spot the deserted houses. He gets into them and stays in the uninhabited places, without ever stealing anything. One day, he settles in a posh house occupied by Sun-houa, a woman maltreated by her husband. He comes back, grows attached to her and tries to convince her to follow him. Now the couple goes from flats to villas, sharing in silence the loneliness binding them. While everyone tries to separate them, a strange bond, as powerful as invisible, unites them.
‘I wanted to tell the story of a man who enters an empty house and fills it with human warmth, and the story of a woman totally “worn out” who finds moments of fulfillment with him. I wanted to show that it is possible to communicate through silence.’ Kim Ki-duk.
