Mount Everest has become a graveyard strewn with fallen climbers' bodies. To appease the angry mountain gods, the famous Nepali mountaineer and national hero, Mingma Tsiri Sherpa, risks everything to go back to Everest one last time and attempt to retrieve a body. - 'I hope our film will enlighten audiences around the world about the complex relationship that the Sherpa people have with Mount Everest… During our journey, we stopped at monasteries where Mingma prayed, and went past schools where he would have liked to study longer. We followed his path, from guide to family man, to the legacy he leaves as an accomplished mountaineer, having guided more than 75 clients to the top of Everest, helping them make their dreams come true… Mingma's dream has always been to honour this sacred land which has provided for him and his family. From now on, he would like to restore respect and dignity to the mountain he loves a mountain the Sherpas call Chomolungma.' |
