Are You Lonesome Tonight?

A young man, convinced he is responsible for a man's accidental death, develops an ambiguous relationship with the victim's widow while a policeman tries to solve the case an investigation that will change the course of his life. - 'Now that I have finished my first feature film, I know myself better than before. I also understand better where sympathy for the 'bad guys' comes from. In fact, we could all have been born with the traits of an 'anti-hero'. It's just that the protagonist in my film lives in a no man's land where morality and rationale are debatable… Human beings are limited, imperfect and sometimes do unreasonable things. I am attracted to the hidden impulses that are concealed behind these actions because they reflect man's deep nature… Our reprehensible actions have an effect on others and, often, we fail to see the whole picture. One question runs through the film: taking into consideration our past, how can we manage to forgive ourselves. We have to confront the past in order to live in the present. But when memories themselves have become a form of punishment, is redemption possible?' Wen Shipei
