Abluka - Suspicions

Istanbul in the near future : Kadir is serving a 20-year prison sentence and is offered the benefit of early release. In exchange, he promises to help the police in running terrorists to earth and agrees to be an informant. Once outside prison, Kadir gets in touch with his younger brother, Ahmet, who works for the town council eliminating stray dogs. But between political chaos and paranoid obsession, the situation goes from bad to worse. The violence which surrounds the two brothers, added to pressure from the authorities, draws them into an infernal spiral. - 'The neighbourhood where the two brothers live is isolated in two respects : geographically, since it's surrounded by the police, and as well by the paranoïa into which the characters have sunk. No one knows who the enemy is or might be. They are completely isolated from a psychological point of view. This paranoia blurs the boundaries between dream and reality. I wanted to play on that because it helps us share the way they feel and experience the culmination of this paranoia from within. Isolating the characters in this way tends towards the metaphor.'
