Hassan, a seventeen-year-old Palestinian, is trapped amid the on-going war and famine in Gaza. His bid to go and get a bag of flour results in four days of detention, followed by forced displacement far from his family, leaving him alone on a fifteen-month journey from the north to the south of Gaza. He lost his younger brother before being displaced and his father during the expulsion. The overpowering wish to go home never left him, driven by the hope of being reunited with what was left of his family: his mother and sister. - Drawing on the knowledge and experience gained during the production of From Ground Zero', initiated by Rashid Masharawi, From Ground Zero +' is a project that presents a variety of portraits of life in Gaza. Each work explores a particular facet of human experience in the face of armed conflict, during a difficult period of reconstruction and collective grief. This approach offers a new vision of resilience and hope in a situation where the outcome remains uncertain. |
