Goodbye Monster

The world of Kunlan, made up of thousands of islands, is threatened by evil forces. Bai Ze, a great healer, puts his island in danger in his attempt to protect it and is banished by his masters. Seven years later, he goes back to redeem himself. - 'It was the issue of mental well-being which inspired me to make this film. These last few years, more and more friends and family members have been diagnosed with mental illnesses. They suffer from insomnia and can't seem to escape from the depths of despair. Pain is something everyone has experienced, sometimes every day, and that forces people to cope with it in all sorts of ways. I wondered if it was possible to free people from their suffering. My answer isn't scientific or medical, nor is it about giving clear answers. As a filmmaker, it's a matter of building a world full of possibilities so that people can dream.' Huang Jianming
