From Ground Zero

The Ground Zero project was launched by Rashid Masharawi, a Palestinian film director from Gaza, during the conflict initiated by the October 7th 2023 attacks. This project came into being, given that the voice of the inhabitants of Gaza is barely audible, that it is necessary to keep traces of what they are going through so that memory endures, that the history of the occupation of Palestine cannot be rewritten without taking into consideration that of the Palestinians and in particular those from Gaza. - In this context, it is hard to imagine a vibrant creative scene and yet it exists. The Gaza Strip has talented artists, whom nothing should stop creating. This is how the idea of making a 60-minute film composed of about twenty very short stories, each averaging three minutes, arose. This means multiple points of view are expressed; ensures that film shoots - necessarily short and spread throughout the Gaza Strip - were still possible, and highlights their creative vitality by using a mix of genres: fiction, documentary, docu-fiction, animation even experimental film.
