200 Mètres |
|
Mustafa on one side, Salwa and the children on the other, a family lives separated by the Israeli Wall, only 200 meters apart. They survive on a daily basis with all the stratagems and affection needed to 'live' like everyone else, when a serious incident comes and shatters the fragile balance. In order to find his injured son on the other side, the father embarks upon an odyssey through the checkpoints, illegally, in a minibus where the passengers' destinies encounter the most absurd obstacles. - 'Oppression alienates you in that it violates your most basic rights all the more so when you begin to adapt to the oppression! Forced separation brings great suffering. 200 Meters' is my story, the story of thousands of Palestinians and these stories can change people's lives drastically. I believe in the power of cinema, in its almost magical ability to move us. I needed to tell this story…Here, in Palestine, we have got used to adapting to new situations, to doing what we are told and hiding our feelings. But we must no longer accept it.' Ameen Nayfeh |
