Lhamo, l'enfant de l'Himalaya |
|
'My name is Lhamo. I was born up there among the highest mountains in the world and I'm going to tell you my story, the story of my childhood. My mother, Ama, gave birth at home ; my father was in the mountains tending to his herds…' - Thus begins this film in the land of eternal snow, of yaks and long-haired goats. In the poverty of the isolated villages of Ladakh and Zanskar, it's through the eyes of a little girl living a simple, joyful life that we follow her from birth to adolescence. - To become a member of this small community, Lhamo must help the elders and go up into the high mountain pastures. From a very young age, Lhamo sees Aba, her father, go off in winter along the frozen river, and she knows that one day, she too will have to walk on the ice. - While her brother, Tashi, is destined for the monastery perched on the cliffside, she is to go to the school for older children in Leh |
