Once upon a time in a village in Kazakhstan...
When his father comes out of prison, the only choice young Jaras has is to work to provide for his family. Chick has a very beautiful voice. He practises for a singing contest but the school bullies will decide otherwise. Toad explores the ruins of his village hunting for metal to sell as scrap. Along the way, he meets three mad boys who talk to him about a hidden treasure. Asian is a brilliant student about to go to university. When his girlfriend gets pregnant, he has to find a solution at any cost. Four destinies, four teenagers who have to take too many risks to find their place in the world.
