Aku Tsendruk and his wife Ama Tsomo are heading across the empty grassland to the next nomadic settlement. They have to confront three young men who have stolen the old woman’s yak. The animal had been released from slaughter to live free until its death. The theft had so become a wrong not just against morality but also against dharma. Ama Tsomo requests a judgement not by law, but based upon an ancestral traditional ceremony.
