Every year on May 9th, veterans meet near the Kremlin. Every year they are lesser and lesser, but this meeting is important for all of them, especially for old shepherd Chodi Makhmadaliev. He remembers his life, his fights, how he met his wife Anorgoul near the sacred fountain, and their two sons. One has become a doctor held in high esteem, whereas the other one is a trafficker in trouble with the police. Despite his reprobation for what he did, he decides to help him. This veteran’s life is drawn in small impressionist strokes, as the memories of the chapters of his life come back to him.
This sensitive film with poetical title is about time slipping by and unfailing friendship getting over ordeals. It is also a very beautiful portrayal of a man remaining faithful to his values.
