Ariel Schweitzer is a cinema historian and critic, and professor (Paris VIII, Tel-Aviv University). He is the author of Le nouveau cinéma israélien (Yellow Now, 2013), translated into Hebrew in 2017, and of Cinéma israélien de la modernité (L'Harmattan, 1997), also published in Israel in 2003. Critic and member of Les Cahiers du cinéma, he also translated Robert Bresson's Notes sur le cinématographe. He also organized several retrospectives of directors such as Bresson, Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Rivette, Vittorio De Sica, Amos Gitai, David Perlov and Uri Zohar.
