Samuel Maoz was born in Tel Aviv in 1962. After graduating from Beit Zvi School in Ramat-Gan, he directed a series of music clips and commercials before completing a first experimental documentary feature, Total Eclipse in 2000. His debut feature, Lebanon wins Golden Lion in Venise in 2009 and competes for Oscar for Best Foreign Movie.
