Adilkhan Yerzhanov was born in 1982 in Djezkazgan in Kazakhstan. In 2009, he finished his studies in film directing at the Kazakhstan National Academy of Arts, and was then able to continue his training in New York thanks to a bursary. He made three shorts and several long features. The Gentle Indifference of the World has been selected at Cannes' Un Certain Regard in 2018.
