Daniel Schmid was born in 1941 in the Grisons (Switzerland). After history, journalism and Art studies, he studied at the Free University and Television Academy in Berlin. He directs over a dozen long features and two documentaries, Tosca's Kiss and The Written Face. He also directed several operas.
