Jahnu Barua, born in 1952, was one of the pioneers of Art cinema of Assam, a state of India in the north-eastern region. He is also the director of the first Assamese movie ever distributed in France: It's a long way to the sea. He has directed several international award-winning features shot both in Assamese and in Hindi.
