Davy Chou was born in France in 1983. He is the grandson of Van Chann, a major film producer of the 60s and 70s. In 2009, he created a cinema workshop in Phnom Penh with young Cambodian students. In 2010-2011, he went in search of witnesses to the golden age of Cambodian cinema and filmed Le Sommeil d’or. He created in 2009 with Jacky Goldberg and Sylvain Decouvelaere the production company Vycky Films, as well as Anti-Archive in 2014 with Steve Chen and Kavich Neang allowing emerging Khmer directors to produce their films.
