Wayne Wang was born in Hong Kong in 1949. When he is seventeen, he leaves for the USA to study painting and cinema in Oakland, California. In 1975, he directs his diploma film A Man, A Woman And A Killer, and returns to work in Hong Kong, before settling in San Francisco, where he alternately directs art films and Hollywood productions.
