Prashant Nair was born in Chandigarh, India. He was raised in Europe and Africa. After studying engineering, he went on to live in Prague, New York and Paris à Prague, New York et Paris. Nair started his film career as a screenwriter. His micro-budget Pan-Indian movie, Delhi in a Day won critical acclaim.
He later wrote and directed Umrika (2015) which premiered at 2015 Sundance Film Festival. and won the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award.
