Mario O'Hara was born in Zamboanga in 1946. He began studying chemical engineering, which he left to work in the radio. He met Lino Brocka in 1969 in an educational theater association. He wrote the screenplay for two major films by Lino Brocka : Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang (1974) and Insiang (1976). He plays the main role in the first. He directed around thirty films and died in 2012.
