Ugyen has to complete one extra year of national service so the ministry sends him to Lunana to replace the school teacher. While the young man dreams of emigrating to Australia, here he is on the road, then on trails, to reach the most isolated school in Bhutan - and the most isolated school in the world, at a 3,730-meter altitude. Once there, the population develops a deep respect for him. It is because he holds the children’s future in his hands. Thanks to the children, he will learn more about his job than he did during his training. "With Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom”, I wanted Ugyen, the young protagonist, to have the desire to go look for his own version of happiness. But he is forced to undertake another journey... He reluctantly goes into a world that is, in every aspect, the opposite of the modern world. At this occasion, he understands that what we desperately yearn for from the outer material world actually exists within ourselves, and that happiness is not the destination but the journey indeed."
