Amin, an Afghan, had to flee from his country at the end of the 80s when he was still a child. Thirty years later, henceforth a university lecturer in Denmark, he reveals to his best friend the true story of his ourney and his fight for freedom.
“For at least half of his life, Amin has hidden the hows and whys of his arrival in Denmark. Making this film has made me better understand the dramatic consequences of running away. Not just as a child, but also when the past and present are disconnected, as they are for Amin. I understood that this gap developed a tendency in him to project himself into the future, while at the same time keeping a certain distance with the present and the people around him. I realised what it meant to have a secret that you can’t really share, but which will always be silently present, haunting relationships and life in general ...
